Hill region of Uttarakhand is unique because of its location, geographical feature, social and economic structure. Women in hills due to small land holdings and abrupt weather conditions have little income from direct agriculture while the men population mainly has migrated to plain region for earning livelihood. Consequently, women in this region have switched over to other enterprises for adding to their economic resources mainly through Self Help Groups. Income generation under Self Help Groups is dependent on womens entrepreneurship skills. But to be a successful entrepreneur the women should possess certain fundamental skills and knowledge besides the support from family and organization. But to be useful, knowledge must be effectively communicated. Effective communication tools becomes vital for transferring knowledge which forms the basis of decision making and effective functioning skills needed for persons involve in any organization. The book addresses these issues relevant in context of the hill state of Uttarakhand, India. It explains how communication packages when designed based on the women's need proves to be effective in changing the awareness level of women.

Autorenportrait

Neelam Basera, the authoress of this manuscript is born on March 18, 1990, in Bageshwar district, Uttarakhand, India. She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension and Communication with minor in Social Sciences from the prestigious Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India in June 2019.
